Size:159K Date: 6/07/94
Description:
3C Timer 1.21 - 3C Timer is a programmable software timer which offers
three stopwatch functions and/or three timer function and can count down
from less than 1 minute; it also offers audio and visual feedback for each
different channel. There are three different size windows in 3C Timer. The
large size window allows one to see all three channels; the medium size
window allows one to see only channel one, but does not disrupt functions
of other two channels; the mini size window allows one to see only a
portion of channel one so it would be more visible while running in the
background. There is also an external window which displays status of all
three channels, if in use, while the 3C Timer is not the active stack.

Amplifiers - I started this stack as a kind of introduction to electronics.
The op amp is probably the most fundemental element of electronics
(non-digital) and these circuits are found in all sorts of things. This
stack hopefully will encourage a few people to experiment with these
circuits. I will continue to update and add to this, and try to make
things more clear as I go. So if you try this and find some parts
confusing or hard to understand, or just have questions, send me a message
and I'll try to make it better. Also, this is shareware, and if you
register, you become intitled to free updates as they become available.

accessing AppleScript from HyperCard.
Name = AppleScript & HyperCard.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:A:AppleScript & HyperCard.sit
Size: 3K Date: 1/27/93
Description:
AppleScript & HyperCard - HyperCard is great and can be even better with
AppleScript the only trouble is that Claris neglected to include an aete
resource in the HyperCard application. (Does anyone ever put aete resouces
in there programs?) anyway here is an aete resouce to paste into a copy of
HyperCard so that Toy Suprize (the AppleScript editor) will be able to
send AppleEvents commands to HyperCard. It will also be able to poll
HyperCard for a list of the supported events most useful of which is the
do script command by which you cna make your stacks run from any
AppleScript script. I have included a text file with a short script to
show how all this works.

Name = AutoKeyRate XFCN 1.0.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:J5rson Externals:A-G:AutoKeyRate XFCN 1.0.sit
Size: 7K Date: 3/24/95
Description:
AutoKeyRate XFCN 1.0 - AutoKeyRate takes up to 3 parameters. The first
parameter is always the command, get or set, which indicates what should
be done. If the command set is used, then 3 parameters must be used. The
first parameter is the command, the second parameter is the delay until
repeat, and the third parameter is the key repeat rate. It returns an
error message if there are any problems, or empty if successful.
AutoKeyRate is implemented as an XFCN, although it could have been done as
an XCMD, I did it this way because it is easy to use to get the current
keyThresh and keyRepThresh, or set them and check for errors.
Name = AutoScripter.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:A:AutoScripter.sit

HyperCard 2.1 and 2.2. as well as the HyperCard Player. This is free
software, please pass it on! Please note that this is a tool with which
one creates books, rather than a book itself.
Name = B-Ball Tourney Pool.sit

Size: 39K Date: 3/22/93
Description:
B-Ball Tourney Pool - This is a Stack for scoring the thousands of office
pools that take place around tournament time. I do not condone use of this
program with any activity or with the NCAA tournament specifically; rather
to prove your tournament predictions over other prognosticators. It is
based on a total point scoring method of the entire bracket. Get your
brackets filled out before Thursday and download this file to score it!
Name = BackFileCopy 1.1.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:BackFileCopy 1.1.sit
Size: 8K Date:12/09/94
Description:
BackFileCopy 1.1 - BackFileCopy is an XCMD that copies any file between two
volumes or directories while not completely taking over the CPU, hence
allowing background file copying. This XCMD is something I wrote to have a
copying process that is friendly to the rest of the system. Right before
it reads data into the buffer, it sends a message to HyperCard to set
cursor to busy Then it sends it again immediately before it writes the
data to the destination file.

Size: 16K Date: 5/03/95
Description:
BasicDB XCMDs 1.0 - For purposes of explaining BasicDB, a HyperCard
environment will be assumed. However, the externals should work anywhere
the basic XCMD interface is supported. See Tech Notes at the end for an
explanation/exceptions. BasicDB is a set of externals that implements a
simple database file system. BasicDB is just that, basic. It is intended
for those developers that do not want to store their data inside of
HyperCard fields inside of stacks, but do not need any of the fancy
relational or other features of higher end systems. A BasicDB file can
contain any number of records. Each record, however, has a fixed structure
of the following - A Numeric key, A String key, Text data, Item ID.

dialog boxes will eventually allow you to start over.) By Gary Hoffman.
Name = Bkgnd Navigator 1.03.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:Bkgnd Navigator 1.03.sit
Size: 7K Date: 9/01/94
Description:
Bkgnd Navigator 1.03 - The Bkgnd Navigator stack contains the Bkgnd Nav
palette which allows point and click navigation between backgrounds and
among next/prev/first/last cards of the same background. An ID button
identifies the current background. The stack contains an installer, to
install into other stacks. All code is contained in the commands of the
palette, so no extra scripts are required. The stack's cantModify property
is set to true to keep it from growing. This is a great tool for people
developing their own stacks, using multiple backgrounds.
Name = BlinkMail 1.3.1.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:BlinkMail 1.3.1.sit
Size: 77K Date: 3/25/94

Name = Break-In 2.2.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:Break-In 2.2.sit
Size:129K Date: 2/27/95
Description:
Break-In 2.2 - Ever wanted to know how a stack was done? Ever lock yourself
out of one of your own stack projects trying to protect it? I must admit
that I first wrote this stack several years ago after I had *yet again*
managed to program myself out of my own stack (some of us never learn to
save copies, I guess). It has allowed me to get into my own stacks and
many others to see how other HyperCard programmers are doing such great
things with HyperCard. I have found many useful programming ideas this way
and am passing this stack on in anticipation of finding more great stacks
out there!
Name = BulkChange 1.21.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:B:BulkChange 1.21.sit
Size:102K Date: 5/02/95
Description:
BulkChange 1.21 - BulkChange is a utility based on HyperCard that allows
batch processing of text files. You need HyperCard 2.2 and over and System
7 and up to use BulkChange. Basically it allows you to find and replace a
string of any length in a batch of text files. You can select multiple
files in different directories or process the content of a folder. If you
choose to work on the content of a folder you can configure BulkChange to
work on files created by an application in particular. As a commodity you
can also work on a single file at a time. One of my favorite use of
Bulkchange is to modify URLs in a bunch of HTML pages on the Web sites I
maintain or to process text files sent from a FORM page and I can see

Name = CapsKey 1.1.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:C:CapsKey 1.1.sit
Size: 14K Date: 5/30/95
Description:
CapsKey 1.1 - CapsKey is an XFCN, which is a resource you attach to a
Hypercard stack to extend its functionality. You need to copy CapsKey into
any stack that you want to use it in. You can also copy CapsKey to your
Home stack or the HyperCard application itself, in which case all stacks
can use it. If you make a stack that you expect other people to use, be
sure to include the XFCN in the stack itself. There are a variety of
programs you can use to get the XFCN into your stack. ResEdit is a
resource editing program available from Apple. ResCopy is a Hypercard
stack that copies resources. There are others, as well, but those are the
two I know about. The ID of the resource is not critical and can be

Name = Change of Address 1.0.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:C:Change of Address 1.0.sit
Size: 31K Date: 6/24/93
Description:
Change of Address 1.0 - Moving and changing addresses means mailing lots of
post cards and making lots of phone calls. This stack helps you do both, by
printing 'fold & stamp' Change of Address cards and by giving you a
flexible phone dialer. This stack lets you enter any number of addresses
to change from and to, and knows that you may need to use the stack with
more than one phone system. There are useful reports you can print, too!
Requires HyperCard 2.1 or greater.
Name = Chaos Theory.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:C:Chaos Theory.sit
Size: 12K Date: 4/11/92
Description:
Chaos Theory - This stack is an introduction to Chaos Theory and Verhulst
numbers. It borrows heavily from scripts in The Hypertalk Bible by the
Waite Group. Hopefully they will forgive me, this stuff is too important
to be buried in scientific archives and minds. Understanding just enough
about this to be dangerous, I have already thought of some interesting
applications for chaos theory. Simply put, Chaos Theory attempts to find
order where there appears to be none! Could it be useful in predicting the
Dow Jones Market indicator?

Name = Chess Set.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:C:Chess Set.sit
Size: 12K Date:12/08/93
Description:
Chess Set - This is a very simple HyperCard chess board program. It doesn't
play against you in any way, but rather allows you to play with two
players, by yourself, or over the network. All you do is click on a piece,
then click where you want it to go. You can move the piece anywhere you
want (the mac lets you cheat!) except on top of a piece of the same color.
There is also a black hole where you can place pieces and pull them out
for later use! Complete instructions are given, just make sure you keep an
eye on your opponent's moves!

certain widely used statistical package for mainframes likes its data to
be in column format, while a widely used spreadsheet for the Macintosh
wants its data in Tab or comma delimited format. (OK, a spreadsheet is NOT
statistical software, but it just goes as an example.) Although most
statistical software offers services for the exchange of data between
packages, usually the one you need just isn't there.

assist others to do the same, since it has nice elementary indesing,
search and automatic updating features. Also, it might help others to get
some idea just what XCMs and XFCNs are out there. Please note that no
XCMDs are included in the stack, its just a reference. For each item, you
can find out where it is, the type, it's value, and read a great
description!

language (from Teknosys) to make an XFCN that does the same thing and the
BASIC XFCN was much much faster.

Name = NewOffset 3.3.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Hyper:N-O:NewOffset 3.3.sit
Size: 9K Date: 8/02/93
Description:
NewOffset 3.3 - NewOffset is a Hypercard external that permits the user to
search for any occurrence of a specified string within any container. It
works properly with fields as well as variables and supports both case
sensitive and case insensitive searches. Hypercard's offset function
allows you to find the first occurrence of a string, but requires some
careful scripting to find subsequent occurrences. Also, when searching a
large container, the offset function is tediously slow. NewOffset solves
these problems by providing a simple and fast method of searching any text
for a specified string. Optionally, NewOffset will tell you the line
number on which the string is found.

diamond, if the calling application is in the background. If the calling
application is in the foreground, nothing happens. This is useful for long
scripts to let the user switch out of HyperCard and work on something
else, but then let them know when HyperCard is ready to interact again.

Description:
NumStringer XFCN 1.0 - NumStringer is a function that takes two parameters.
The first parameter is a number that will be operated on. The second
parameter is the number of digits that the first number should occupy. If
the first parameter has fewer digits than the second parameter, the result
will be the first parameter padded with leading zeros to fill all the
digits. If the first parameter has more digits than the second parameter,
the result will be the first parameter. I've found this useful in

simply append a number, and still keep them in order. Click on and/or
examine the script of the button in the stack to see how it works!

remap the Color LookUp Table (CLUT) it, instead, dithers it's colors and
there is a noticable degradation in color quality on some video, which as a
rule is 16 bit color. Palette can extract the best 256 colors and build a
color palette which is stored in the resource fork of the stack. It can
then change the systems color palette so that when the picture is
displayed it looks best it can on an 8 bit monitor.
